Verbosity versus Integrity

Paul Gunther's modus operandi hasn't changed. As a county commissioner, his vile language and verbose statements are demeaning and have no place in civil debate. Attacking Bob Simmons' knowledge of farming during the Farm Bureau's forum was a cheap shot, not thoughtful debate or discourse.

Mr. Gunther's statement implying that HE has 750 acres is a stretch of fact.  However, this is in concert with his past utterances such as his statement a few months ago, maligning goose hunters (one of our best sources of income for our landowners) by implying they are high on blackberry brandy while hunting.  Additionally, the statement that farmers can earn $15,000 an acre raising strawberries is verbal manipulation and twisting, and as a commissioner is not being a good custodian of integrity.

There's a thin line between artful verbosity (BS) and reckless abandonment of truth. Our citizens deserve better.

The voters are about to decide if they've had enough!!!???

  1. Mr. Gunther is the only sitting Commissioner that is running for re-election. There are many reasons not to return Mr. Gunther to his position, but this latest incident makes it abundantly clear why he needs to go. Excellent statement Ed Walls!! This QAC resident has had enough.

  2. Gunther is a total BS artist. He thinks that just because he says things, the world has to believe them.

In the discussion at the Farm Bureau forum he said that the business parks are just about full. Jackson called him on it, and pointed out that (I believe he said) 400 thousand square feet were still available for rental. Gunther didn't even endeavor to rebut that. Such unbelieble BS!

Gunther may have been a credible county agent (though I heard recently from someone who was in that office when he was that he was a huge problem for the Extension Service). But when he starts BSing everyone just so he can get reelected, that's the time to send him back to the tractor seat.

  3. Who we really need in office is Bob Simmons! We've seen what Paul Gunther can do (not much), let's give a man who has ran a wildly successful furniture business, as opposed to a bloviating promise-maker like Paul Gunther.

  4. The real question is, why would Gunther attack others in such a mean spirited way? Does he want the job so bad that he's willing to sink lower than he already is? There must be something in this job that he's willing to lie for. I recently spoke with one of Gunther's former bosses at Extension and they reported that Gunther will do and say just about anything to get what he wants, regardless of who he steps on. I hope Tuesday sends him packing.

  5. So glad to hear others say the same - listening to Gunther spout off as if he knows everything about everything and he has done so much and knows so much - makes me want to shout out "and did you rest on the 7th day". Give me a break, he's just a blowhard.

  6. Joe Gannon stood up in his opening statement at the Farm Bureau Forum and condemned Dunmyer for going negative. He failed to mention that he (Gannon) was the one who went negative first. Actually it was twice. The first time was at the Bay Times Forum at the KI library and the next time was at the LOWV Forum at the BOE Building in Centreville. I guess he forgot about that.

  7. Message to Paul Gunther!!! You need to relax. Get yourself a pint of Blackberry Brandy, put your feet up, take a few deep breaths, and then kiss your job goodbye.

  8. so long Joe GannonNovember 1, 2010 at 2:57 PM

Look up blowhard in the dictionary and you should find photos of both Paul Gunther and Joe Gannon. Neither deserve our votes. Both are self serving and like to hear themselves talk. When they pause to let you speak it's just because they are thinking about what they're going to say next. We need to elect people who really listen!
